Joined a small boutique firm from a tier 1 firm and switched practice area to transactions. I was a high performer in my previous team and was appreciated often for my work but my work at the new place is getting highly marked up and its making me anxious. The work i'm currently doing is not even that complicated, especially in comparison to the quality and kind of work i was used to doing at the T1. Not sure if the reason behind the high mark up is me being not cut out for transactions or if I am just not used to the way things function here (the people seem to have set pattern for the work including in relation to giving comments while reviewing docs received from counterparties). There is no communication whatsoever, I am just mindlessly drafting transaction docs without having any awareness of the origin and laws surrounding it and no feedback is given after sending work. Even the person marking up seems to be just doing it for the sake of showing huge markup over my work and they are close to the partner while I have no line of communication. Don't know how to handle the situation or if I' just feeling paranoid and anxious for no reason or if I'm just not good at transactional work.
