Powai is a travelling hassle. Not so well connected (unless you're okay taking a to and fro taxi everyday)
Vasai- train travel will make the uninitiated CRY
Otherwise these are not bad options
Andheri/ Vile Parle, especially if you can manage some place closer to the railway station are decent
If you're comfortable with Mumbai train travel, you'll also get PG options at Dadar, and the Andheri-Vile Parle area
