Kindly stop spreading inaccurate facts and figures. We noticed this discrepancy especially on certain threads related to WBNUJS and NLIU BHOPAL. The actual figures aren’t out yet. You can speculate, but bringing down a certain institution’s name by spamming false figures is seriously damaging. As far as the word goes, each and every tier-1 nlu including the above two mentioned are actively placing students. If there are certain issues you guys wanna talk about, do deliberate. LI encourages discussion, but not through misinformation! Regards.

Why even publish these posts, until the concerned placement committee comes up with an official report? Why are you asking people to stop posting rather than ensure that those posts don't get past moderation? Isn't a human moderator looking through each post anymore before allowing to publish

Let’s just spit it out and say what the moderator won’t: the hatred of the BJP has led “liberals” on this site to spread all sorts of misinformation against NLIU and GNLU (especially GNLU) because MP and Gujarat (especially Gujarat) are pro-BJP states. What these idiots forget is that these NLUs have students from all over India and the majority of the students here are actually left-wing. Yes, there was a certain right-wing conference held at NLIU which was controversial, but it was condemned by most students and they even took down posters at the event. As for GNLU, please see any social media group of the college and you will see how strongly the leftist influence is there.

Finally, it shouldn’t matter even if an NLU is of a certain ideology. Placements should be judged objectively, that’s it.

I think the truth is somewhere in between. It’s true to an extent that some of the hate against GNLU is because of resentment/jealousy against Modi and Gujarat (gonna get worse because of the Olympics bid). But GNLU students also invite trolls because of their behaviour. Classic example: the famous letter to the VC demanding respect from juniors and insistence on having junior classes seniors as Sir. Just go to any tier 1 NLU: this NEVER happens.

Aside from trolling GNLU and NLIU, left-wingers on LI are very aggressive and intolerant towards certain other issues, such as policies promoting market-friendly reforms, or meritocracy over reservation, or any comment criticising the opposition and supporting the BJP. Things are so bad that a legal legend like Nani Palkhivala was abused on this site for supporting reservation and called a UC bigot (even though he was a Parsi) and dumb (even though he had an honorary PhD from Princeton and has been cited in hundreds of judgements).Harish Salve is often called a mediocre lawyer and was ridiculed here the other day for criticising Hindenberg, even though many respected experts have questioned both the bonafides of Hindenberg and the substance of their allegations.

Moderator— you really need to reign in these left-wing elements or you will alienate many of your users.

Let's be clear about the bigger picture here: we know that LI is not TCLA, Legal Cheek, RollOnFriday or Law Careers Net. Now not being any of these is not necessarily a bad thing, it could, if managed well, even be a good thing (meaning if LI had had any aspirations to actually continue being a meaningful Indian equivalent to the above-mentioned sites). However, over time, LI degenerated into a space for the exclusive performance (with gusto) of dick measuring contests of all kinds (which the forums I mentioned earlier and other places like them would never allow to happen). LI's model works in such a way that the rope it hangs on to for its survival is the dick measuring contests. It is not a meaningful, long-term key to survival and thriving, but merely a paliative, but a paliative which is mistaken for a long-term cure and strategy.

Therefore, this thread is a waste of everyone's time. We all know the dick measuring contests will go on, some comments containing misinformation or particularly outrageous substance will be marked "trollish", "contested" or perhaps both; those who agree with those will complain of the mods' bias against a certain ideology, while those who do will also be critical of the mods, but in a different way, by focussing on how much spine they have or haven't got. In the same way, some comments whose authors wish to touch (or are reckless about touching) particularly raw nerves will not be published or will be taken down/withdrawn even if initially published, with the same ideological battles being played out. Or perhaps some comments which should have 'contested' or 'trollish' tags around them are mistakenly not assigned those, or maybe even some comments that shouldn't have those tags are assigned them, creating the same old triggers for the same old ideological battle lines.

Call me a killjoy if you like, but we all know (even newcomers to this site) the truth behind what is written above: LI's model is a doom-loop. Therefore, only three options remain: change the model, continue with the status quo and stop trying to apply temporary fixes or kill the site entirely.
