As others have suggested, if this is not a financial burden on your family: GO FOR IT. I am a first generation lawyer from a small town, and went through these phases. Luckily, my family pushed me to go out and gather experience. You can take a more informed about the remaining opportunities in your future years after your first internship.
Go with an open mind, and try to absorb what the world is like. Don't worry about excelling and other objectives at this stage. You are in a stage when you can experiment, hence do that whole heartedly. Wishing you all the best.
And allow me to tell you something more- it's tough, but fair.
I am not trolling you, don't worry. And please never care about some random trolls on LI okay?
But what if one fine morning you are facing a life crisis, and you have court? Will you tell me to excuse you because, oh, I am not able to articulate? I can understand what you are going through, but I can't excuse it. Neither should you, for these few years of law school at least.
So start refining your writing skills. Then speaking skills. Then your entire work product- judiciary or corporate, whatever you do.
But please start. Yes, it's tough. But you do the little things right, and big things will be just fine. Been there. Done that.
You do this, you'll go miles for sure. More power to you!
I'm a third year student at Rank 13-14 (Tier 3 offc.) NLU. I come from a rural background and a first generation lawyer, with very middle class background.
So the problem is that, I'm getting an internship at Wadhwa's chambers. And prior to it, I don't have any in- office/on-site experience of interning.
As it's based in Delhi, so living there and spending a month. The timings of the office, travelling, where to live in a city like Delhi, how will be everything, the finance and so on... I'm feeling like stuck.
Should I go for it or not, I know that one day I've to step out. But then, please help me out how to handle this situation.
Thoughts like skipping the break and procrastination are coming. Considering I will be getting (only) 7 official breaks for internship, post this one. But then my "mind" says that anyway my ultimate goal is to go for judiciary, why even I'm going for it.
Don't know, please anyone suggest me something.
Does it happen with everybody, or it's just that I'm, not mature enough or, not serious with my career.
