As for tier 1 status, it’s largely on paper. NLIU has declined a lot over the past decade, because of corrupt/incompetent admin and political neglect. The opening of DNLU Jabalpur was a terrible blow, because funds that could have been used for NLIU were diverted there.
(1) Yes, in terms of brand value, nliu has lost glory to some extent but still it is one of the oldest law school established in the year 1997 and is a stable tier 1.
(2) The alumini base of nliu is marvelous. You will find n number of partners in every tier 1 firm which gives it a edge in terms of placements, internship and other opportunities (ps- I have personally witnessed it)
(3) NLIU has a decent academic culture, not very hectic, not very chill, thereby giving you time to participate in moots, write paper, internships, courses etc.
(4) Now, if you are an average student, having some sense of seriousness- doing pretty much of the above mentioned things along with studies then definitely NLIU will give you excellent internships opportunities in your 3rd and 4th year.
(5) If you work well in internships, you'll receive a ppo otherwise day zero will help you in placements. Even if you fail to crack day zero, then also you have rolling placements throughout the year, so a total of around 45-50 students gets placed.
(6) Now people who will troll on these numbers- let me just put it straightforward- if you just want job without doing anything, with just spending your time with cigarette and girls, without participating in any extra-curricular activities, without studying at least on an average basis then even NLS can't give you a job.
BUT do note that there is no culture of placements in foreign law firms. Domestic placements are very good.
AN AVERAGE STUDENT WHO STRIVE FOR HARDWORK WILL DEFINITELY LAND UP IN TIER 1 FIRM FROM NLIU
But if you just want job because you are in tier 1 nlu, then sorry boss, you can come here on LI and troll my message but the reality is what i have mentioned above.
So, conclusion is- if you are ready to give your best in initial 4 years, then at the end of 5 year, you will be DEFINITELY at par with NLS, NALSAR, NUJS peeps.
