The top 10-15 get internships solely based on the CGPA, other things don't matter much.
For the rest, other things start having more value.
GPA and Batch Rank otherwise add points to the CV. There are other components as well. Firms/partners have no specific approach of valuing components of the CV.
Rest, hope your email is read and luck plays its role in the transaction. Meanwhile try to specialise in the work you want to do. Also, your cover-letter matters a lot.
