Divyanshu went back to JSA after spending 3-4 years at S&R - he was a senior EP, this must have def hit the firms books.
Maybe S&R has deep enough pockets to absorb these hits. But the firm is past its glory days - thats clear to see.
Moreover, this firm is one of the select few that can proudly claim a robust alumni network. Almost every lawyer who has ever worked at S&R is well-established and continues to excel post-departure.
The loss of UW, BP, BB, SB, TA, RB, DP, JLCP, VK, among many others, did not impact S&R's reputation or growth trajectory. Mohit's departure will similarly be inconsequential. This is not to minimise their contributions or potential. A positive trajectory, immune from such resignations across practice groups over these years, proves sound institution building.
A good example of this is Anand Prasad’s departure from Trilegal. He was one of its core founders. His leaving and starting a boutique practice didn’t make any difference at all there! Likewise, Akshay Jaitley (another core founder at Trilegal) resigned and ran a practice from France for a little while. Did it make a difference to the firm? No. Sitesh is a Senior Advocate. His leaving didn’t crush Trilegal’s dispute practice!
Here’s my forecast: like his peers before him, Mohit will go on to do great things. Best of luck, Mohit.
