T1 A2 from humble T4 town in UP. Parents want me to marry somebody soon and it would more than likely be an arranged one. As an opinion from those in industry for long, would it make sense for me to marry somebody in academia or creative jobs that give work from home? Say professor either in STEM if not law, or home designer. My rationale is that such jobs would allow her to pursue her dreams freely and also allow us to sustain the relation due to less taxing or flexible working hours. I'm otherwise fairly chill about her working from different city relocating closer to her and house later 5-6 years later. I'm not recally against marrying law girlies in corporate too but in my head I know their idea of money and life and relationships isn't same as mine. I've seen enough tough days to not really care about getting my reservations done a month in advance at XYZ fine dine. I work honestly and enjoy simple pleasures of life like traveling sports et al. But if I do come across somebody who has similar ideas and it clicks, I'll probablly go ahead with them too. But for now - what are your opinions on my thinking, and what other professions can be suitable in a way we both work it out well. Please don't troll, I know married life of many corp lawyers are bad. But that's not the be end all of it right. I want to make it work and will somehow make it, in my head I am certain. But do suggest according to what you've experienced or seen. Thankyou friends.

Being from a "no-tier" town in UP, I do understand your concern. Trust me, it is really hard to find a family life if your are working for a Tier I. It is very much advisable to find a partner who understands your professional life and is completely fine with a solo vacation while you are mostly working (despite being there with her!). The concept of vacation/personal life does not exist in Tier I circle. But that's completely fine, given the compensation you get in exchange for your personal life. While it is questionable whether money can buy everything or not (maybe something to deliberate on a separate thread), you can ofcourse promise your partner of all possible luxuries. I would personally recommend looking out for an IT professional as they have a mature hybrid work policy which allows them to work from anywhere at least for a certain period of time. My wife works for a retail giant. While the employer has good work and leave policies, she needs to be in the office at all times and has no scope for wfh. This kind of sucks at times when i want to work from a different/peaceful location and she cannot spend beyond a week. In my experience (basis my friend circle), it is advisable to find someone who is not from your profession but understands your work-life. Anyone who fits in these basic requirements is the person you might want to consider. Ofcourse, there are other concerns that you might want to talk about with your partner including their career aspects and family (having kids and all).
