Is GLC Still Worth It for a Working Professional?

I recently cleared MH CET with a 99.395 percentile. I'm an OMS candidate and a full-time senior banking professional with a strong interest in studying law.

Like many others in my situation, I wasn't looking for placements or internships. What I wanted was the brand. GLC, Mumbai — the name, the legacy, the alumni network. That’s what drew me in.

But here’s what I’ve been reading and hearing from students and recent alumni:

2. 2. Administrative disarray bordering on incompetence
3. 3. No structured academic calendar
4. 4. No real guidance or support from the faculty
5. 5. Delayed results year after year
6. 6. Infrastructure that's falling apart
7. 7. Rigid and outdated attendance rules with no empathy for working professionals
8. 8. Visible institutional decline — academically and operationally
9. 9. A lack of inclusivity, with clear signs of nativism creeping in

For someone juggling a demanding job and serious academic intent, this is more than discouraging — it's appalling. The more I dig, the more it feels like GLC survives on inertia, not intent.

So I’m now seriously reconsidering. KCLC or NLC may not have the historic branding, but they appear to have more structure, more responsiveness, and frankly, more respect for students' time and circumstances.

Would love to hear from others — especially those in similar shoes or with recent experience at these colleges. What would you do if you were in my place? The counselling window is almost here.

Intern as much as you can. Don't intern at law firms in the first two years. Intern with chambers and advocates. Start interning with small law firms in 3rd year, then go for T1s and T2s in 4th and 5th years.

Occasionally, you'll get a professor who is extremely jealous of your internships. Dodging these professors is key. Such professors usually don't have a good relationship with principal and admin too so make sure u have a strong student council.

it's nothing complicated, just a 75:25 division of marks, with 75 marks being the final exam and 25 being the internal score. you'll figure these things out once you join, just reach out to your immediate seniors for any help you need once college starts. my batch had a 60:40 system (40 internal marks), so professors had a lot of influence over the overall ranks, so they would give good marks to people with attendance only. it should be better for y'all because the internal marks have been reduced to 25.

Intern & get another degree brother!! GLC offers you the time use that! People have completed CS + CA in 5 years! You’ll be unbeatable if you get another degree or two along with LLB. Also, ofcourse get into a good boutique firm intern for longer periods. Other college kids have to intern for one-one month, we can intern for longer months which is the best deal, you don’t need 10-20 one month internship on your CV, you need long term good internships where you actually learn something. Also try to explore fields other than law maybe you’ll like that better. :)

Contrary to what others have been saying, the new system with internal marking does make attendance important, because profs will give you marks according to your attendance unfortunately. But it's still not too bad, go to college atleast 2-3 times a week, interact with the professors so they know you. Be active with committees and competitions in the initial years, don't get stressed because people all around you are interning all the time. Take some time to explore everything, and find what's best for you. Treat the college admin and professors with respect and your life will become much much easier. Please don't ignore academics, because your rank will be very important while applying through the college placement cell in the third/fourth years. You'll figure out how to balance internships and college commitments eventually, so don't worry too much. There's never a single right path, whatever you choose to do is going to be okay.

No admin at GLC gives a rat's fart about attendance. Use that to your advantage. Intern, intern, intern, like crazy. They say 'lifelong GLC interns' for a reason. You won't understand this RN, but you'll gain a lot of practical knowledge by interning like that which you wouldn't if you were only in the classroom. Best of luck!

Be good to professors/admin, they'll make your life hell but hust push through. Get good marks in initial years. Try to intern across places to decide what interests you. Try to join committees and take part in competitions, it's probably the only "college life" you'll be getting.

I have a very very good percentile in the CET and I am confident I'll get GLC allotted in the first round of CAP. Just wanted to know what I hypothetically would have to experience if I get in. Can be anything from administrative hurdles to any pro tips around them or just in general advise to make student life @ GLC an easier ride.
