You did not make the merit list of an exam that tests basic comprehension and reasoning and think you are entitled to every opportunity in the world huh!NLU students are by no means the smartest people in the world, but they have a consistent track record of hard work and diligent learning. They work hard for the entrance exam, continue to work hard even after making it to a prestigious NLU and have every right to get preference over TLC students. A lot of Magic Circle firms also invite applications for their vac schemes exclusively from top NLUs due to the same reason- NLU students are a safer bet. Its not nepotism, its called separating the grain from the chaff
Perhaps you were smoking pot when the NLU students were preparing for CLAT hence you didn't make the cut.
Many local college students excel despite not making it to an NLU because they understand that they'll have to work twice as hard to demonstrate their skill in the industry. They don't whine but rather put their heads down and swim against the tide. Kudos to them!
As for invite-only competitions, its a quality issue. Having seen the performance of local college students in such competitions (lol), I can see why NLUD decided to go with only the top institutes.
The fault lies closer to home bud. Wake up and smell and the coffee!
1) the comp this year was invite based only - not even a single chance for other universities to maybe 'try' at least no selective process or an interview based selection, nothing they just decided on their own that only specific students from specific university 'deserve' the chance to be represented rest of you can keep dreaming.
2) i understand that their ties with such big firms are their own and their students should get the benefit of that (agreed, valid) but this is not a job interview it is merely a competition based on hypothetical scenario that gives others a chance to network with some of the important people in int legal area. What the actual shit are you scared of? Non-Nlus getting a chance, actually showing they might be better than you because they have to work double hard to get anything you just get on a plate?
3) I think it's very unfair coming from such an high institution that they choose to arbitrarily decide whatever the hell they want to do? Inviting foreign Universities??? Good for repo but do they really need this ? They have enough advantage over all of us that they can easily get a job in magic circles. No but really, what's the point? International recruiters know the international crowd, you invite them to India only to show a handful of Indian students who will just go and get stoned after the ending of the comp. Is this the 19th century?
I'm not asking for much just a valid chance to have experience such as these yes ik some random ass NLU kid will write 'cope' because again they don't realise what personal hell non-nlu kids have to go through. This unfair and arbitrary behaviour is consistently increasing from day to day by every NLU is kinda alarming. No fair chances, What is next? We have to bear our swords and actually duel over getting basic chances such as these???
