Secondly, 1 lakh aspirants are for UG and PG combined, around 60k-70k sit for clat. And getting into any random NLU is wayyyy easier when you compare it to a college via LSAT, say, UCLA? And the US law schools also warrant a good GPA. lol, casual equivalent of ‘NLUs in USA’. Jfyi, not a single Indian student is joining this year’s JD colonies. Getting into NLS is tough as hell (even I didn’t make it in my second attempt), but getting into HLS is a different ball game altogether, you have to be the goddess of god mode. Period.
CLAT UG if want selection in NLS Bangalore
Delhi Judicial Services (Entry Level Judge and not DJ) - 70'000 aspirants for a mere 50 seats. Tougher for General Category students as 60% reservation applies.
Delhi Judicial Services is considered creme la creme of Indian Subordinate Judiciary. In most states Subordinate Judiciary is filled with cesspit people who are incompetent to practice. Delhi Judicial Officers are relatively better, are relatively more knowledgeable.
Delhi Subordinate Judiciary is attractive because of salary, only transfers within city, great infra (by Indian standards) and relative respect (compared to judicial officers in other states)
Delhi Judicial Services advertises 50 vacancies and doesn't fill the same every year. Which makes success rates even less.
Chance of Entry - 1/1400
CLAT India - 1 lakh aspirants for 3000 seats in National Law Universities across the country. Caste Reservations apply here. Different states have different local entrance exams for local government, private colleges.
Chance of success - 1/33
LSAT USA - 1 lakh aspirants. But LSAT conducts admission to all law schools in USA.
There are 40'000 seats which have to be filled through LSAT USA.
Success rate - 1/3 (almost)
Tough for Asians, Whites. Easier for Blacks, Latin Americans. Race based affirmative action.
TOP 14 law schools in USA (Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Northwestern etc) are tougher and require more scores to get in. T14 is the casual equivalent of NLU's in USA. Considered elite. NLU's and T14 Law Schools in USA have equal level of difficulty to get in.
T14 US law schools have 5000 seats.
Success rate - 1/20
Dont confuse LSAT USA with LSAT India. LSAT USA is a tough exam.
LSAT India is a joke of a test and doesn't have any value. Expenses resorts + law schools like JGLS, BITS, Alliance etc use it so they gain legitimacy (Our kids also wrote a tough exam and came here on merit, while reality is bank balance is the only score that matters.
