As if BJP's poor selection of candidates, organizational deficiencies and resultant terrible results wasn't enough, now we have two useless folks as MoS from WB. Exactly what has Shantanu Thakur done in the S&P Ministry? Zilch. His standard remains poor.

And then Sukanta Majumdar. First, his enfant terrible cousin was airlifted from her constituency (due to patent unpopularity) and inexplicably still given the ticket from prestige seat of Kolkata South. Expectedly she lost. Now SM who is the State BJP Prez who has been giving poor results since he took over from controversial but doer Dilip Ghosh, is being rewarded with MoS?

Okay it can be interpreted as a shunt from WB so that organisational changes can happen. DG out. SM in Delhi. So SA rules? Or will it be rookie ABG? Why were everyone chatting up on his chances of getting a ministerial position that too Law.

Wasn't the hint from Chandu and worthies enough that ABG is pariah because he dared to upset the apple cart, which would have unravelled so many convergent interests of supposed rival parties and individuals.

Wait and watch. In the coming days, this former judge will go mental.

Humbly requesting all students to stay united and ignore threats and disinformation being spread by the other side. 🙏🙏🙏

Please also ignore certain disloyal students acting on behalf of the admin. Don’t share any inside info with them, as they will leak it. Please don’t invite them to any Telegram or WhatsApp groups.

I agree with you on the vendetta point, but sometimes for strategic reasons you need to form alliances with people who are dubious. It’s why Netaji allied with the Axis powers and why a secular, centrist, liberal part like the Congress allied with parties like the Muslim League, SP, RJD and DMK.

Please see this news, guys. Mamata Banerjee has said that Rahul Gandhi is not responding to her calls and text messages. It means that Mamata has zero influence outside Bengal. It means that NUJS students have nothing to fear if they continue their protest. The Supreme Court and national media may wish to be on the right side of the Congress, but they have no incentive to be on the right side of the TMC. Thus, please keep chasing Chandrachud, The Print, The Wire etc. You may also approach CPIM Rajya Sabha MP and Senior Advocate Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya, who is representing victims of TMC corruption pro bono. He may be able to help.

Here is what SJA should campaign for, if at all:

1. Reforms in governance of NUJS, to remove political interference through the EC

2. Demand that EC should include at least 2-3 most successful alumni of the university

3. Ask for more transparency - EC & AC must begin uploading all documents and outcome of every meeting on NUJS website publicly

What would removing the VC accomplish? Nothing

Except helping a certain lady in her vendetta

Fun fact: she was behind the previous SJA protest that removed Bhatt as well. She turns on VCs who go against her interests.

SJA needs to stop being pawn in political fights and petty vendetta of facult members. Enough is enough. Do something productive.

SJA is a divided house. The Veep and her friends belonged to a faction, which lapped up the ticking time bomb sent on a platter by a certain teach. Ofc the Prez should have held her ground and not buckled under pressure. Now that the shit has hit the fan, the Veep is scotting and cooking up stories en route. The SJA has always been a divided house. However, it is for the Prez to marshall the troops.

It should have never been about NKCOut. Instead concentrate on how to revive, strengthen and make SJA truly independent. That itself is anti-establishment.

You kids need to understand something: if you want to oppose the BJP at NUJS and flaunt your leftist credentials, your party of choice should NOT be the TMC. It should be the Congress or CPIM. Thus, you shouldn’t feel forced to support NKC because you think opposing him will mean allying with the BJP. You should instead reach out to the Congress and CPIM: the likes of Bikash Bhattacharya, Adhir Chowdhury, Mohammed Salim, Saira Shah Halim etc.

You seriously thought that Chandu and Dipu ever took interest in SJA petition? Even when the BJP caused an upset in 2019 LS, the EC continued true to its character and we were blessed with NKC. A well known "BJP leader" had her two boys studying at NUJS. Another was well-known to a faculty member etc. The so-called "earthquake" was missing as it is now.

The EC runs on a calculi of loyalty as per royalty. VC knows that. Those who play it well are supported to drive the gravy train. NKC has been a far better driver than PIB.

My answer is yes, it will. In the following ways:

1. The TMC leaders and their supporters in the governing bodies become emboldened. As does the VC.

2. The CJI and Justice Dipankar Datta back off and ignore the student letter.

3. Many neutral people back off, knowing that the TMC could come into power.
