Please guide me, they have threatened people in the past and all of them have bought out eventually. I am very worried because I have to move to another city as well.
They have tried threatening legal action like false criminal complaints. Also, what about my relieving letter? Do other firms not require that?
4 month notice period is way too long, which firm even has that
DON'T

Firm can never ask you to pay any compensation.

Notice period is Bullshit and illegal in the Indian Context. Ashneer Grover.
Leave them. No one will do anything. You cannot force anyone to work.
You're a lawyer. You ought to fight your way out of this.

Leave when you want to, don't lose the better opportunity.
Ask the new firm if they can extend the joining date. Show them the 4 month notice clause in your retainer letter or an email from the current firm, which requires you to give 4 months notice.
Ask thenew place for an advance. Tell their hr about the situation and ask for help.
