I am from Manipur. Would like to know -
Who are top lawyers in Biglaw firms Tier 1/2/3 (Trilegal, Amarchand's, Tatva etc) who belong to North East? (Partners/PA/even SA)
PLEASE NOTE - by north east I mean lawyers from Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim.
Not people from West Bengal, Assam, Tripura or people from Bengali/North Indian backgrounds. I know some of them work in corporate firms. And they are mostly from Bengal who settled in North East.

How many north eastern law students get recruited on an yearly basis?
Are there any challenges in going to a Tier 1 firm for people from North East?
Would be very helpful andm motivational if anyone can tell success stories.
Somehow, a lot of lawyers from the NE states tend to go into either civil or judicial services in their careers. There are a few in law firms but not too many.
But Why are NE lawyers not staying in corporate law.
Other than assamese lawyers at t1, I haven’t seen any lawyer in any tier 1 from the other states of North East, who are also indigenous to the region i.e non immigrants.
Assamese, Bengalis, Nepalis we know they are well represented in Big Law.
I am talking about ethnic Nagaland, Mizoram, Sikkim, Manipur and Meghalaya people.
As far as I'm aware Karuna Thapa used to work in SAM but she left some 3-4 years ago.
