We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.
Therefore, in using the site, you must agree to do your best to uphold these community guidelines.
Note that what you find here is written and moderated by anonymous people on the internet.
Therefore everything you read here is very likely unverified, rumour, speculation and/or downright false.
In continuing to read anything here, you must therefore agree not to take anything you read here as factual and that you will exercise due caution, diligence and common sense before acting on any information you may come across here.
You also agree to report any inaccurate or malicious comments with the buttons. Moderators take action within 24 hours, as required and appropriate under law.
Our full terms and conditions apply too.
Do you solemnly agree to all of the above?
Deal with the world as it is.
P.S. I come to LI to watch (and sometimes to trigger) mudslinging matches and ad-hominem. For those keyboard warriors who will inevitably write enchantingly nasty responses to this, just remember that I live and work in a country 5000 miles across the sea, am on holiday ATM and will occasionally open this thread with a nice amount of popcorn to see the fun unfold. Would you want to give me the satisfaction?
However, a part of me is hopeful that there will be some activity if there is political change in Bengal. June 4th will give an indication on how likely that will be.

Selective outrage is worse than no outrage.
No such support etc came through from the bleeding hearts when another female student complained against another serving SC judge (later NGT Chairperson). Likely she lacked a politically connected uncle and stupidly pursued her complaint legally, which went nowhere. Dilatory tactics continued till the SC/NGT judge retired, enjoyed sinecures and life and then passed away. Case closed.
Fractured faculty support also came through when the PA (now Secy) alleged SH by an AR Admin.
So why not now? Why isn't the associate prof coming clean regarding the evidence she has against admin and financial misdeeds of the VC, which triggered repeated SH by him. Why not make all of it available since the EC is VC's echo chamber?
Let's start with something small. Apparently, we have alumni including from the venerable founding batch, in a committee called IQAC that works closely with the VC, especially in the NAAC process. These folks don't just know all but have seen all that's rotten. And yet not even a whisper.
True, we have also had alumni who are looking for private deals of profit etc (and shepherded accordingly by "interested" teach) but to the detriment of univ. Having such folks inside univ structures will do real harm despite the PR.
This univ needs greater representation from students and alumni in its governing and funding structures. The alumni teach in this aspect have been a disappointment with their sniping and feuding to be VC acolytes.
No one is demanding obstinate anti-establishment orientation. But why crawl when even bending isn't obligatory?
Remains a mystery how the same SJA, which couldn't evict PIB in 2016 was able to do so in 2018 and certain handpicked Registrar scooted only to return when NKC took charge.
Faculty howled, petitioned etc against PIB only when a "star" faculty who had fallen foul with PIB and led the charge. PIB's image got dented but the regime remained very much in control. Instead the agent provocateur exited.
SJA needs to fight its own fight and stay away from warring faculty factions. Don't piggyback nor host parasites.
Before you ask alumni for help, what about the alumni teach? If they haven't acquitted themselves, why bother requesting assistance from alumni on this issue. Instead carefully scrutinize offers of unsolicited help.
