We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

The NLUs are wonderful, true, no doubt about that, being the best options for legal education in India and gradually going towards becoming competitive in Asia. But from a โbeyond Indiaโ perspective, they are still that: working to become competitive. All this โHarvard of the eastโ stuff is just these folks giving themselves airs (like the western uni PR machines, which you would likely be familiar with, often do for themselves). But when you say you are from a foreign country, I am assuming you mean one of the usual suspects (5 I countries, EU/NATO, Singapore/Hong Kong). My suspicions strongly incline towards a western country, because somebody reading for a degree later in life is, in my experience, a distinctly western phenomenon (NB: I am not asking for, and you shouldnโt tell me, your nationality, because revealing such information is against LI rules). If you have access to unis in these places and money to pay the home studentsโ tuition rate (or ability to access Student Finance), please just ditch the idea of an NLU education for her and take that option instead. If she gets in via a foreign/NRI reservation/quota, Indians will laugh at, look down upon and despise her, while your own people (if you folks are Brits, at least, speaking from experience of living in Britain) are likely to behave/think in much the same way (fun fact: we Indians have the ability to be as petty as every Tory/Reform/ American Maga politician/supporter of such people you can think of, and then some, as you hopefully have figured out by now, just as they have as much ability as our lot do to absorb lessons in pettiness from some of our more funny characters). Also, unless your wife is planning to do the degree for the pure aesthetic pleasure of working for a qualification/gaining knowledge and/or doing it to kill time she has on her hands (a pretty costly pastime, by the way, considering the NLUs make people in your kind of situation pay similar sums of money to what a limey or Yankee university would do for us international students), you are likely to encounter a lot of disappointments/an uphill battle, because, on the one hand, you have restrictions to practicing in India (even if your wife has OCI), and that kind of a degree is likely to be even less useful in your own country (I have spoken to enough black-tie-sporting, Eton/Harrow-moulded, Oxbridge-educated snobs among Anglo-Welsh barristersโ chambersโ pupillage committees and law firm grad rec teams/grad rec partners to know that they believe NLU academic standards to be lower than those of RG/Ivy ones, and that, at best, such a degree can be compensated for with a strong postgraduate degree combination, such as Oxford BCL + MPhil + DPhil, or Harvard LLM + Oxford BCL, and my researches/experiences reveal no reason why those in other countries wonโt be equally, if not more, insular). Abandon this fool's errand, therefore, and pursue a course of action which is more conducive to the long-term health of the exchequer.
There's contradicting information everywhere...so I'd appreciate if I can get some clarity on this. The phone numbers for any NLU doesn't get answered anyway
