1. Your work speaks but that is not the sole criteria based on which PPOs are given. Almost all the firms where I have interned in my 4th-5th yr loved my work but only one went ahead and offered me a PPO.
2. No matter how many months you intern with a firm, they won't hire you until and unless they have vacancies. They don't care about your future. I have seen hardworking people not getting hired even after interning for like 6 months with a firm and I have seen people getting hired in just one month. Keep track of the hiring cycles of each firm where you are interested.
3. One thing that plays a crucial role during internships is your networking and conversation holding skills. Approach people specially the partners during your internship for guidance and work. Don't shy away from asking for what you deserve (a PPO). Tell the partners that you wanna get hired.
4. It is a myth that if you follow the proper channel i.e. working with the Associates and communicating with the partners through the Associates, the Associates are gonna vouch for you or that your efforts would be acknowledged. You are not gonna get that PPO unless and until a partner or some PA level person notices you and likes your work.
5. Most of the assessment/ long term internships and paralegalships are scams. Do proper research about vacancies and hiring cycles before interning with any firm. It is too easy for them to make false claims about employment opportunities even when they have no intentions of hiring you. Firms just love free labourers.
PS: All the best!
