Faculty at PGCL isn't any great either. Even you can read from bare act since you know how to read english.

Few professors at glc (pithawalla, daswani etc) are senior & exceptionally good at their subjects

Branding helps.

Although glc is not what it used to be, at least for next 10-15 yrs will recommend it over pgcl

Significantly better than PGCL. I have worked for multiple tier one firms and they don't know what a PGCL is. GLC kids are clueless in internships for the first two years, well that is the time to learn. PGCL kids are clueless when they join as A0s. Paralegals and Long Term interns from GLC are preferred than associates from PGCL. I'm sorry to say but your Sister and Brother in Law only got a job because they were top rankers. In GLC you have far more possibilities of securing a job directly as PPOs and not on basis of how much you are able to cram two days before the exam and vomit. That being said toppers also get placed very easily in tier one firms without any internship experience whatsoever.

PGCL doesn't really have any decent faculty, making class room learning pointless. The faculty merely reads from bare acts which is far from how subjects are taught in National Law Universities. GLC has a few professors who actually teach well and are reputed. Students line up for their classes.

If you are taking PGCL you might as well take any random college available through MHCET. Because only GLC and ILS are relevant in the legal fraternity.

No your attendance is still not enforced in GLC except for a select few professors who you'll only encounter from your third year. You'll have to bear them only for your third year because classes are in morning from the fourth year.

I highly doubt, many students from nirma and jccl have been placed at T1 and t2 firms.

GLC is famous only for its alumni base and they don't really play a role anymore. The placements have been deteriorating drastically now. You can check their stats. Not to mention it's not worth spending 5 years in a college with poor management, placement and infrastructure. You can check with the students of GLC, even though firms come to their college for recruitment they barely hire. A girl was raped last year in the hostel opposite the College, it's not safe to stay there either.

definitely will consider your point, but I have heard from people on this forum that GLC has extremely trash faculty ('cept a few) and there's not really much going on there. Also heard that proper attendance norms are now enforced.

would a better experience and superior guidance from faculty be worth the trade off for an hour's commute? My sister and brother-in-law have both suggested PGCL even if the commute is shitty because they think that some classroom learning is still relevant, which is lost out in GLC. They're BO '19 and BO '21 graduates of PGCL, and they said that Y1 and Y2 GLC interns are infamous in their workplace (both T1 firms) for not having any legal knowledge.

Thanks. Can you elaborate on the attendance requirements newly enforced (as per one of the replies) in GLC? And my sister and brother-in-law are both alums of PGCL, and they have had no trouble getting jobs although they were both at the top of their classes. There's no one I know in GLC, so I would really really really appreciate an honest review of your last (five?) years.

GLC anyday. Getting placed is already tough when you're not from top 4-5 colleges, why cripple your chances even more?

B'24 GLC here and I would recommend it over pgcl because if you ever have a chance at a PPO anywhere, you will not be rejected only because of your college. GLC is not an nlu but it is respected enough to know it is not a deal breaker. Many kids from Nirma, upes, jccl, new law college etc are rejected outright for internships etc or even if they are not rejected the college is always a con in their cv. GLC tends to have a neutral effect. It is will not get you in neither will it keep you out of t1s.

Pgcl has really good infrastructure. Glc has broken walls and desks. Pgcl has an average placement cell, glc has a good placement cell but the competition is way too high at glc. Pgcl is not that strict on attendance, you're expected to keep some sort of attendance and not single digit number on the other hand the attendance at glc USED TO BE 0 BUT NOW IT HAS BEEN CHANGED, FOR INTERNAL EXAMS THE PROFESSORS WONT GIVE YOU YOUR PROJECTS TOPICS TESTS IF YOU HAVE 0 ATTENDANCE. BOTH COLLEGES HAVE COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE. Its not mandatory to have 75% unless the rules change. Pgcl has good fests and programmes all year long, glc has no such thing. Glc focuses on competitions more but there's no guidance given like pgcl. Moreover, if you're well updated with the events of competitions you can easily take part in them as well. Student quality is horrible in glc, I do not mean it in a bad way but the students can barely communicate. Also, most of the students at glc are pursuing upsc and it's not the same at pgcl. So the chances of meeting like minded people at pgcl are better than glc.
