My parents were very nervous whether I would clear 12th class boards in one go. So they were estatic when I got first division (I graduated from school in mid-2000s, not 1960s, FYI).

My folks didn't know that I got through to a reasonably good college (what will now be called a "Tier 1 NLU", ugh!), but they were pleasantly surprised when some people responded positively to this information.

I also got through another (much more) competitive exam / selection process than law after school. But, so much of it is luck, so don't bash yourself too much, nor gloat about any thing.

Those of you whose parents taunt you; speak with your parents and let them know that this isn't productive or healthy (for them to taunt you). Hopefully, your parents will relax in life.

My parents didnt even care when I got into a T1, even that wasnt enough to impress them or evoke any affection from them. If I'd gotten into a T2 i dont think I would have ever lived it down. Perhaps they would have disowned me. They already seem to think I'm the worlds biggest idiot for some reason

I went to a T2 NLU and we ate each T1 NLU in every competition we were in. Tankha, Vis, Day of Crisis, debates. We ate them everywhere.(They have done much better then my uni in general) but I have never lost any round of any comp face-to-face to any T1NLU. Do what drives you lad, we had a saying whenever we broke into knockouts "I hope we get NLS." Taunt them

Yes, my parents were obsessed with getting me in NLS and the top-3-4 colleges at max. My batch gave the exam during COVID and I messed it up on a multiple levels. Our exams got pushed off from May to October end, NLS had a separate exam which was cancelled later on, there was a last minute change in pattern from Offline to Online, we had to give exams in poorly equipped centers during peak COVID wearing gloves, PPO and shit. My parents knew it very well, I could have made it into T1 law schools, they just hated me and doubted my mocks (like i cheated). They lost faith in me and cope with the fact that I would not be a T1 law student. They did not allow me to take a drop. Every year some random day they choose to bring this topic up. I might be one of the best students in my batch, with assessments and PPO options. It does not matter to them. They keep punishing me till day when I ask for something (To go out, spend time with friends, maybe a decent phone) and say yeah you could have got all those if you had got into the T1 NLU that you deserved but chose to squander the opportunity. I understand they resent it. But I have moved past and worked so hard to make it up..I simply do not pay much heed to it now..

Hurts? yes, but nothing much I can do about it that get a job and move on.

They were a little sad in 2019 when I got my results, but they've just asked me to keep my head down and focus in the T2 NLU I got. They were just sad because all of us knew I had it in me to get to NLS, I just got burnt out due to multiple exams I was forced to take + other family stuff + exam hall shenanigans (the invigilator fucking brought her kid to the hall + the person beside me kept trying to ask for my watch, he was a very weird kid).

My family recognised that I was still in a relatively good position, just that I would need to work harder to get to where I am now as a recent graduate vs if I were in NLS. I am proud for reaching where I am, but I also recognise that luck was a factor as well in this shitty job market.

Even in T3, be in the top 3-4 of your batch, there can be no excuses. Your parents just want to be able to boast that "my kid went to NLS/NALSAR". Fuck that, you do you. Embrace your past, climb to the future.
