Just got an offer from a company for 5lpa as part of an in house team and i'm from a tier 3 priv college, to those that are in an in-house legal team, what's your pqe, how much do you make and what college are you from?

Also if there are any seniors here that can provide valuable advice for career growth prospects, pls share your insights here!
2 year PQE, 20+lpa, top 6 NLU?

Join if you do not have a better alternative. In-house salary progression depends on your initial joining payscale as the yearly increment in percentage terms are nowhere near law firms. That being said, in-house pay varies across industries and size of the organisation. Service sector will pay more than manufacturing. Advisory role will pay more than managing litigations. Make sure that you learn as much as you can in the initial months and make yourself useful in every situation. When asking for a hike, the organisation will only look at how replaceable you are. So it helps to be irreplaceable. Also be clear about CTC and pay progression roadmap for at least two years. Many companies mess around with CTC, non-CTC components and in the end there might not even be an increase in your in-hand pay.

Keep upskilling yourself in areas of interest if the current job is not in an area of your interest. One thing to keep in mind is switching jobs will always result in a higher salary than sticking to one organisation. Ideally move quickly (within 2-3 years) initially and then slow down once you reach middle management levels. Aim for 10+ lpa within the next 2 years either by negotiating a hike or switching to a better paymaster.Wish you all the best.
