Based on my skillset and interest these two have piqued my interest the most [ I know both are very different options but hear me out ]. Pretty much everyone I have spoken to has discouraged me from pursuing both but mostly for law, idk why though.

Law has more growth in terms of compensation but the latter offers more wlb. So I'm not quite sure what I want to do.

This might not be the most appropriate site to post to so my apologies, but I'm sure there must be someone who must have some experience in this who could provide some meaningful input over here.

Any response would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
An average software engineer sees more growth than an average lawyer in terms of money. Not sure about ui/ux field though.
UI UX is not software engineering. Software engineering is SDE roles. Designer ko Figma aata hai. 0 coding gyan.
Jo -1 maara hai mahaan vyakti, would love to know, how many UI/UX Designers he is in contact with. Does he/she even understand what does a UI/UX Designer do and what's the difference b/w UI/UX designer, Product designer, Visual Communication designer?

Nahi pata tha na differentiation? Bas maar diye hathode. Waah.
Dear,

I would suggest you to for Ui/ Ux it's more creative and interesting. It's has huge scope & demand in the market. Law firms & Litigation are more toxic and uncertain in terms of WLB . I would suggest yo go for Ui / ux instead of continuing legal industry. Believe me you will grow much in ui / ux industry. Legal industry has its own limitations & problems.
Most of the people here won't have enough information about both to give you a meaningful answer.
If you're good at either field you can make good money and live a good life. There is a struggle in both. The question is what do you prefer to be doing late into the night?
You're asking most lawyers here to compare their field which they know intimately to something they've barely heard about.

Law is not friendly for gen 1 people.
I have info on this. Dekho.

1. UI UX - unless you do the full design specialisation from Srishti school or MIT Design it is difficult to get a good entry level job. All top companies hire UI UX designers after 2-3 y of experience.

Hence, you will have to struggle for 2-3y if you don't do undergrad or PG in Design. After that getting that big break is again difficult because there are many designers and sab ek se ek hai.

Also, MidJourney is a threat. It can create those homepages which you think you only can make and make it unbelievably beautiful. And there are A.I. tools available now that can convert this into Figma files. So, it is a threat. That is why I myself did not pursue it because I just did not have the brain to compete with it's design. Search App UI with Midjourney in YouTube.

Now, if you are okay with this, and ready to take a bet that it is just a threat I think you will be happy in a Design school. Ans will have a great career.

2. Law - Dekho paisa jo hai, woh Tier 1 law firm me hai for aam people with no connections. But, to get in you need to be in Top 5 NLUs + have a thick skin to stay there. Aisa nahi hai ki bahar ke log aate nahi hai, par the path is a bit longer in getting in.

Now what should you do?

- See Law is a licensing exam. Without a Law degree, specifically, you cannot practice law. But, without a Design degree you can be a UI UX designer.

Search for Saptarshi Prakash of Swiggy, Abhinav of 10kdesigners, Ansh Mehra. All are Engineers. So, you can do the Google UI UX Design Professional certification, do some 10k-15k ka internships at any point of your career and then at max do an MS of 1y and be a UI UX Designer. That MS is also not needed tbh.

So the best course of action is to do Law. Because later you won't be able to switch and get into all these T1 firms as they won't really take a 3y LLB kid (unless you are from NLS) when they have so many applications from NLU kids.

Do law. Get 3-4y experience. Then if you want to shift join 10k designers ka cohort and you are in. This way you will have some money in the bank too.

Q) How do I know this shit?

I am an Engineer. Designer. I lurk around this forum because I like law. Unexpected people, right? ☺️
Hi. Op here, thank you so much for this response!! I was thinking the same thing because I can practically do ui ux without a degree, so why not give law a shot. I know the grass will always be greener on the side and stuff so I will actually try law for my piece of mind, if i do well then its good and if i dont, ill leave immediately.
UI UX Designer ki salary + WLB dekh loge toh Sudan me hi zameen kharid loge.
