That is how it works. Always has.

An old illustration - Four river valley civilizations dominated early human settlement. Or, Rome, economically, dominated that Roman Empire.

Contemporarily, London generates more than a fifth of the UK's GDP. California generates almost a sixth of USA’s GDP by itself. It clubbed with Texas and NY, they combined to almost a third. Within California and Texas you have vast low productivity areas. Northern Cal, anything beyond Berkeley basically, is a vast nothing. And that is almost a four hour plus drive at 100+ k’s an hour to Oregon.
This is the story of everywhere really. Urban centres are sprawling outwards. Humanity is moving towards them. As a result, the productivity of these areas is growing. This increases incomes, in turn purchasing capacity, in turn bringing in more businesses which in turn employee more people. These people, high earners, need others to do their chores which brings in more people.

You’ll find β€˜x’ number of examples of loop sided growth across the world. London, NY, LA, SF, Paris, Rhine valley, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo. Take your pick.
This is a very misleading map. Mumbai's share includes revenue generated from places like Jamnagar and Jamshedpur, because RIL and Tata corporate offices are in Mumbai.
Nitpick more then. What is the revenue generated by BKC versus Chunabhatti?
yall are surprised that MNCs contribute more to the GDP than farmers and cattle herds? this is the story of every country buddy.
The answer is simple: Make Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad and all other cities Union Territories administered by the centre and army. Bring part of larger rural dominated states and run by uneducated politicians has made our cities unliveable.
What even is this comment? Did anybody understand what this guy is trying to say and why?
Lol. You’re insane. Bangalore and Hyderabad are developed because of the regional governments that worked on bringing tech companies there. We don’t need to be under some central government. We specifically don’t need to be under a bjp government which equates corruption to doing business. Tell me one company in Yogi Raj that builds something with as little evil as early Infosys/ Wipro.
