Read a Bar and Bench article that some fee schedule of a senuor advocate has been leaked. Is this true? If so, can someone please direct us to this so that we dont just live off the word of mouth legend of seniors ‘earning in crores per hearing’ etc.
Sibal's rate of 15.5 L for a non-regular SC appearance (with 1 conference) is fine. Last week my client was billed 11 L by a former ASG who is much less famous than Sibal for the same thing. This is what you have to dish out.
I feel that rather than the rate, what people should complain about is the quality of service and the pendency of cases. For example, there are lawyers charging 10-20 L without reading briefs. The junior does everything. The show up in court for 2 mins and the judge gives an adjournment. The case drags on for ages. I would prefer that you charge 50L for 3 hearings with the guarantee that the case will be decided after these 3 hearings.
