How does maternity leaves/benefits work for a young associate in T1 and T2 firms? Can one afford to go on maternity leave at an associate level? Any insights/experiences?
What are the effects of taking maternity leaves in T1 firms?
yes ofcourse. Nobody can refuse you maternity leave if you have worked for the firm for a minimum of 1 year. As per law you get 6 months fully paid maternity leave.
your law firm policy may vary but its better to be an Associate of SA and take the leave - as they cant affect your growth much. but partners don't understand issues and maternity is your right - it just may not be 6 months and varied from firm to firm.
