SNU University has recently established their School of Law, which is going to start a 5-year B.A LLB program, subject to BCI actually giving a go-ahead to it.
The program brochure lists 9 faculty members, 8 of whom have degrees from top foreign institutions. Will SNU-SOL be able to outcompete tier 2 NLUs in the near future considering their quality of faculty?
They would certainly be able to outperform T3 NLUs like TNNLU, NUSRL, DSNLU, etc., but are T2 NLUs at risk too? Will SNU-SOL be able to beat GNLU (trolls will say GNLU is a T1 NLU but anyone actually associated with the industry knows otherwise), RMLNLU, HNLU, etc., too in the near future?
Speculating further, assuming SNU-SOL maintains its standards by consistently hiring faculty with foreign credentials, investing in infrastructure, and implementing a transparent admission system (ideally without management quotas or with limited management quotas), how many years do you think it will take to reach the level of a tier 1 NLU?
My opinion is that they would at least take 10 to 15 years to be able to be comparable to T1 NLUs, by which time, in my opinion, JGLS would have long beaten even NLSIU.
Kya hai SNU? Remember, an institution is never built by its faculties but by its students. And who all are going to take admission there? The people who could not get <1500 rank in CLAT.
Just because someone has achieved accolades with their sweat, blood and tears, does not mean that it will be passed down to the students as well.
Unless and until these "foreign educated" professors bring in the foreign connection and grants,.all this will be for nothing.
The reason why Jindal is doing better than Ashoka is because Jindal professors are trying to bring in their foreign connections to Jindal students. Therefore unless SNU brings those connections, a foreign degree is foreign to the Indian education system.
Also agree with the other comment. Quality of students will decide the future. For now it's not even Tier 3 in private colleges, let alone NLUs.
Let JGLS be comparable to the likes of HNLU. Even today, a student who gets through to HNLU does not take admission to JGLS unless they live in Delhi-NCR and wish to stay closer to home. No private university will replace or surpass any top public university in this country, because the talent goes to the public universities where they can get the same education at a fraction of the cost.
"No private university will replace or surpass any top public university in this country."- ISB Hyderabad's Flagship 1y PGP laughing at 1y MBA (PGPX) of IIM A.
Bina tension liye, bas lamba lamba generalization man se bol dena hai. Kahe ki Ambani ji ka net hai, kyun dimag lagae.
This is no different from any other private law school. There is an initial hype, some big names, a glitzy website, and brochures. This is no different from BITS Law Mumbai or RVU Bangalore. In 2 - 3 years all these will fade away and then you'll see the real picture. Already students complain about the falling standards at SNU Noida. You see the pattern.
Ek baat batao. Kyun itna NLU NLU karte ho bhai? Kiske pass itna time hai?
Maan lete hai SNU becomes better than NLS (let's assume).
1. What can you do?
2. What would you as a aam middle class person would have done to change it?
Nothing. Toh in chizo pe soch ke, gossip karke, information leke ya deke, kya ho jaega. It is literally out of your control and the powers that be, do not care about your or mine or LI's opinions.
Leave SNU. Beyond your college, T1, T2 sab jae tel lene. They are not coming to feed your family no matter how many times you confirm their greatness. Apna dekho.
