People have been cribbing out low salaries/retainer in law firms especially in the initial years, however what we really should be cribbing about is lack of knowledge/awareness about the annual revenue/turnover of the big firms. People who are part of the inner-circle at these firms are very conveniently leaving out to provide this information as a result the juniors are just working on and on for infinite numbers of hours thinking they are minting gold. High time the juniors are made aware of what the higher ups are making or taking home at the end of the year so that we can start to have a meaningful discussion about fair pay at law firms.
Yes, we need more posts on topics like this! I believe teams internally share associate billing stats. Based on that I am assuming every A/SA/PA ends up Billings upwards of 1600-1700 hours. On an average it means more than 1-1.5 cr per associate at T1 rates
