Ranks are important if you're applying straight out of college.

They become less important with work experience. But you need to appear as a high achiever.
if youre from the top 3 schools- you might still have a chance- but the lower your rank the better everything else in your application should be. LORs, work ex, CV etc.
My GPA was 6 point something out of 8 and I ranked somewhere in the middle of my graduating class at a T1 NLU. I applied anyway and graduated from a Top 3 US law school. With enough work experience and a solid application, ranks don't matter much.
