I desperately want to start my doctoral degree this year. It's the 2nd year of my JRF. I've searched high and low. Googled, used sources, asked everyone around and still I didn't get any information. Can someone please geniunely help ? Are there any good professors for international humanitarian law/human rights in India ?

Most of the leading authority is abroad, and I can't afford to go because of family. I have applied for NLS, atleast the institution is no1, if nothing else. Yet I don't care about the institution as much as I care about the advisor. I really want to pursue a reasearch career in IHL, and need this PhD. If anyone could find even one top Indian professor that could help.
Prof. Saurabh Bhattacharjee at NLS is really passionate about teaching, and refugee law is one of the electives he offers. He has also worked with UNHCR and refugees in the past so he also has a practical experience.

But, it depends on luck if he will be allotted to you or not.
There's Atul Alexander and TVGNS Sudhakar at NUJS. However, both are for PIL and not specifically for IHL.
Thanks. I believe PIL would work as well. Atleast better than some professors who haven't even studied IL & teaching IL courses.
V. Balakista Reddy used to be there. Not sure whether he is still there.
