I don't understand why countries like India (and some other third world countries like in Latin America) have law degrees that take at least five years to do. In countries in Europe and the UK, you finish your Bachelor's in Law in three years immediately after your Class 12 (i.e. without needing another degree first like a BA). Of course thereafter in Europe you must do a Master's in order to practise and in UK they have the whole Inn system for practical training. However, this still means they are saving around two years compared to Indians who want to enter academia, as now we have to spend one-two more years getting a master's before we can finally go for a PhD. I frankly don't see the need for BA/BCom subjects (please don't grandstand about social engineering in the comments without evidence that not teaching it makes lawyers socially unaware in UK or Europe); they could be offered as electives or reduced in number.
