"The bench said the report revealed there were not only two incidents of sexual harassment or rape as mentioned in social media posts, but there are incidents of molestation, rape, discrimination, homophobia, favouritism, suppression of voices, lack of existence of ICC, lack of info to students about ICC."

You read that right. Instances of RAPE in one of the top NLUs. But let's also not single out GNLU. Remember that:

- NLUD students also alleged widespread sexual harassment and were uninvited by St Stephen's to debates (Kian covered it on LI). An enquiry committee was set up, nothing happened.

- Students from NLSIU and NLUD were named and shamed as sexual harassers on Medium, including a bunch of holier-than-thou people who have made a career as human rights activists. Nothing happened, Some went abroad on scholarships, others are doing well in legal practice.

- Other NLUs were named in an Insta group.

- Acharya Shri Shri Lawrence Liang (another left-liberal darling with a human rights halo) was invited by Sudhir as a copyright consultant for an NLSIU archives project, even after a finding of SH by AUD. Surely Sudhir could have invited other NLSIU alumni working in IP law?

Bottomline: All NLUs are condoning sexual harassment and crimes against women. Those working in the human rights field, who are supposed to stand up against such crimes, are themselves often the perpetrators. So yes, let's condemn GNLU but let's also not act as if other NLUs are innocent.

I'm assuming that the rapes didn't happen in hostel rooms, as guys can't enter girls hostels? Was there a security breach in the hostel? Or did it happen elsewhere on campus, like a secluded area with trees? There needs to be CCTV all over campus in that case. Privacy is important, but not when there are rapes happening on campus.
What happened in condemnable, but the court's remarks about NLU status are exaggerated and uncalled for. There was no need to suggest that GNLU doesn't deserve NLU status. I mean, the college is leading in Rhodes scholars in the past few years. As also appointed out, NLSIU too has been affected. Let's stick to the facts, please.
This is the most nonsensical idiotic comment on this topic. First, winning some obscure award (named after a person who was instrumental in furthering Britain's colonialism) shamelessly glorified on this channel does not shield anyone or any institution; second, two wrongs don't make a right. If there's any other institute also guilty of the same then action be taken against that as well instead of using it as a way to wriggle out of this mess. Yes, let's stick to facts but with logic, please.
There was no comment by the bench regarding removing the NLU status. Why are you making up stuff???
Someone tell Hon. Judge that if they raid all NLUs in India, they will find the same thing happening and students doing drugs, alcohol and other things.

And I am pretty sure that all people know that Universities always tries to supress the matter.
Let's be a little bit realistic shall we?

Even after all this ruckus, has the victim(s) filed a second FIR?

The student who used homophobic slurs still continue to speak such stuff and further more he is well regarded by professors.

What the University administration had done was wrong, and there's no point in condoning it.

However, it should be at least attempted by the victim(s), their friends or family to redress the wrong suffered. Why do you make such a big hue and cry but refuse to reveal the culprit? There is protection for privacy of the victim never for the perpetrators. If you had the guts to post your experiences online and when such incidents are protested against by the student community as well as the Gujarat HC, doesn't that mean that the victim(s) are supported?
