Drawing a Venn diagram using Salve, Subramanyam, Mukul, Singhvi, and the Sibals as points of reference, I can safely and without any error in assessment/judgment, say that your pedigree matters a lot in this game, i.e., counsel practice. These are the top lawyers of today. They charge the most and they all come from extreme privilege - by that, I mean they joined this profession with rock-solid β€œconnections”. No doubt, each of these lawyers is extremely talented and hard-working, but it took the patronage of some serious heavyweights in this profession in their initial years to give them the platforms/opportunities to shine.
Salve had Sorabjee, also his own father who was central minister got him big clients just when liberalisation happened

Dushyant Dave had his father as a judge at Gujarat HC, and got sr tag early

GS had Sorabjee, KKV and Venkatachaliah

But credit to them
