NUJS has had at least two female SJA presidents in the past. Know your history.
Heena was the first female SJA President and also the very first SJA President. Vasudha was the second, almost a decade later.
The inaugural president of SJA was female. As per Pink Panther his batch mate didn't even complete the first year. Married a senior who was part of the inaugural LLM batch. Both discontinued their studies in NUJS and hopefully lived happily ever after.

They probably understood something that many of us still don't. For more on the history behind the mystery, please contact Pink Panther.
Fellow noojies please please stop posting internal stuff on LI. Earnest request
Here are my thoughts: I don't care about left vs right, Israel vs Palestine, BJP vs Congress, trans allies vs TERFs, etc. These are total non-issues with no relevance to the SJA. The SJA should concern itself with ground-level practical issues that affect us, such as:

- Need to improve campus infrastructure

- Need for good faculty: recruit NLU alumni, plus good guest faculty

- Need for collaboration with good foreign universities like tier 1 NLUs (QS top 50 ideally, QS top 100 at a minimum)

- Need to raise funds from private donors

- Need to stop wastage of funds on BS courses like the BSc criminology course

- Need to eminent lawyers on the governing bodies instead of obscure TMC lackeys

- Need to reach out to the alumni network

Finally, in the short-term, immediately petition the CJI for a merit-based VC appointment and the inclusion of jurists of national eminence on the selection committee, similar to what was done at NLSIU.
Any good VC will come and insist that students start making efforts in class and academics, without inflated grades, extra attendance and poor quality plagiarised assignments. Most noojies won't want that. You get what you deserve. NUJS students currently deserve people like NKC as the VC. Why would good faculty come here, when every good faculty who has left in the past and the remaining few who are still here all have rather poor opinions about current students and admin both?
Amazing NUJS still has students who at least know what to do. I thought the new crop of NUJS students didn't even know what governing bodies were.
This person does not really have a good record, with multiple disciplinary actions having been taken against her because of her behavior in the student committees and societies. The GB deserves a more ethical and honest representative, whom the students can trust.
Agreed. There are many other girls who are better suited, but they are scared to contest because they know that every election deteriorates into mudslinging, dirty politics and woke culture wars.
Correct. Representation of girl students and gender balance is good, but having unfit candidates is not.
Why did these actions start suddenly? Looks like the previous SJA wanted to cover up their own tracks lol and thought it would be better to target a female who has been breaking stereotypes in this college since first year, has been the CR of her batch since first year, than do a better fucking job of not scamming people in the name of the college fest. Also, to mention this CR was acquitted of all the charges which were levied against her. Law students to naam ke hain pehle facts to read karlo.
You are forgetting all the RPC scams that the individual pulled and got exposed and suspended for, the Credit Course Cell scams between her and the other VP candidate that led to even the lethargical admin waking up and taking away control of the Cell from the students and the regular bragging by her about no disciplinary actions ever being applicable to her because she knows the VC. All those are facts. No use trying to pass off all blame to others for your own actions. There is rarely a case of any single student in this university who is disliked for their unethical actions by every faculty member, be it the strict ones, liberal ones or the incompetent ones. That's got to be some kind of record for a President nominee.
Ouch at the second last sentence! Surely that's not true. That would take quite a bit of doing for any student.
I just want to know if the candidates are promising realistic stuff and are they being grilled objectively to explain (show and not simply tell) how they will achieve those given existing constraints and a hollowed out SJA.

For example, "demanding" good VC/faculty (through petitions et al) is tokenism because it goes nowhere and SJA is simply neither positioned nor equipped to enforce such demands.

I would instead ask, what leverage do the candidates already have or can create in the short-term to actually pressure the administration (both inside and outside campus) into cleaning the mess that continues to rot NUJS insidiously.
SJA has in the past managed to ensure good faculty intake as late as 2014. It is possible. For instance, bring back the demo classes that the VC did away with.
Sja at NUJS is long dead. The student leadership just like most faculty is incompetent and doesn't exist. Student body as a whole too has declined since COVID.
The students are nowhere capable of judging faculty competence anymore, because good students and good faculty are both rare and endangered species in present day NUJS.
Update :She won

Funnily its all female sja now as the vp candidate from the other panel won
She's the leader the students don't need, but the one whom they deserve. She's not Harvey Dent, she's Batman.
First order of business. Get a victimization survey done in GH and also BH, if possible. Just pull out all that has been shoved under the carpet for years.
