A young, honest and smart lady judge who is a Cambridge graduate. The Cal HC has now lost her to Telangana. Does anyone know why she herself requested the transfer? The official SC order says “personal reasons”, but such requests are always made specifying a particular court where they would like to go, usually because they have a spouse or children or aged parents living there. In her case, she said “any other HC in India”, which is very weird. She did not specify any particular court.

Could it be that she was fed up with the constant politics happening in the court and saw a better future in ANY other part of India than Bengal?

Incidentally, two more well-qualified young judges have left the Cal HC recently: Justice Bobby Saraf (NLSIU alum) for Allahabad and Justice Lapita Banerjee (Leeds alum and UK-qualified barrister) for Punjab.

What’s going on? Why the sudden brain drain?

It is common to not specify any other HC when you don't have a preference, and are seeking transfer because your family members practice in that HC. For instance, if you are a judge in Delhi HC, and your son, uncle, cousin all practice here, you'd seek transfer. This happens fairly regularly (though not as regularly as would be ideal). Many times, no preference is given in the such requests for transfer.
that's why law students should stay in school. you don't have anything about how transfers are made etc. Justice Saraf vehemently opposed his transfer and wanted to remain in Calcutta HC. Sit down and complete your law school.
Sir,

It is for a good reason! Perhaps she is getting saturated with this Court and wants to grow and handle complex division bench matters in a new state with lots of Corporates and advanced litigation. Being a spinster she maybe more career focussed and try to go into Supreme Court for which she needs different Court representation. The present CJ of Telengana is a highly experienced and respected Judge
This is very sad. Retired and serving judges have always found something to do at/with NUJS. Did someone forget to tell her that NKC's term will end soon?

Whereas you clearly don't have any, which is clear from your comment.
