Can a student or alumni of NALSAR give a geniune reply ?

Recently I saw a post on how opaque and subjective the NLS PhD process is, and how it ultimately depends on the whims and fancy of the VC.

Is it the same for NALSAR ? Does the PhD process only favour ex-NALSAR, people with experience or with a tier 1 background?

I hope someone who comes from a non-nlu and joined NALSAR could help shed some light.
No, the situation is much better there. There is a doctoral committee who gets to decide whether the thesis is good enough to be sent to evaluation. If the evaluators okay it, then no further delay by the VC before holding the defence. Obviously alum may get a few more breaks, but that is not a factor of discrimination.
The difference is because Nalsar is filled with people from TLCs while NLS is dominated by NLS alums
No such discrimination exists at NALSAR. Have interacted with a bunch of PHDs here, and the process is transparent. In fact, most PHDs I've met here were not from NALSAR.
