Hey! I am a 17 year old girl and I recently wrote CLAT, I got a rank extremely close to 900, It was my dream to get into a tier 1 nlu (especially nluj), which I couldnβt make it to this time. Last week Gnlu release a form to be filled as an expression of interest for admission through Nri sponsored category. I just wanted to ask for guidance from here since I might end up in Rgnul with that rank of mine, and I always wanted to work in a reputed corporate law firm. Since there are 16 seats in gnlu, I wanted to ask that will I even make it through? And will it be worth the money? Please guide me through this.
(Just to be clear I cannot apply to any other nlu through nri sponsored because I did not mark the nri sponsored category at the time of filling the Clat form, and only gnlu takes nri sposnored admission through All India ranks and not the nri ranks, so I just have gnlu as a tier 1 nlu option).
Joining GNLU will be a humongous mistake. Paying 65 lakhs for a shady seat is just dangerous to say the least. His/her dream is to work for a corporate law firm at the end of the day.Whatβs the gurantee ki he/she will get it?
Dude you are still 17. You have to be prudent in terms of financial matters. With a rank of 900, you will easily get HNLU and NLUO. Join there. I will strongly urge you to drop this nri seat as I was a nri student for my first year in nujs and trust me it was a shitty experience. My friends are still struggling to even get through their mentality as even though they are doing well, the atmospheric pressure you have after paying 60 lakhs is just a shit-fest.
TBH, a general seat from hnlu or NLUO is much more valuable than an NRI seat and that too in Gujarat.
He or she can do well in hnlu or NLUO as well. The general seat can be easily availed with this rank. Even in vacancies. I will strongly suggest to avoid GNLU.
Every NLU looks at AIR ranks infact your NRI allocation occurs as per your AIR rank. At some NLU's you can bypass it because they really don't care. I'll suggest trying NLUJ since they reintroduced the quota after the clat results
Coming to your point, GNLU has long overtaken NLUJ in all parameters, as evidenced by multiple ranking released, moot court wins, Rhodes (GNLU has 3, NLUJ has 0), academics, infrastructure and funding, Govt support. More so, each and every law student would admit that GNLU is the fastest growing NLU across all of India at the present moment and soon will be competing with NUJS and estimates suggest that it would overtake NUJS in 5 years, as NUJS has fallen while GNLU is rising each day.
T-1 NLUs at present (in order)- NLS, NALSAR, NUJS, GNLU, NLUJ.
So at the end of the day it is your choice, whether you want to choose a University which is already within TOp-4 in CLAT preferences and is the fastest growing Law University across the country or you want to go to a mediocre college with minimal placements.
Other than Rhodes numbers, which is about 3 students out of over 3000 to have graduated from GNLU, where exactly has GNLU done any better than NLUJ? How is it the "fastest growing NLU" exactly either? Which direction is this fast growth taking place? Academics? What have you done in academics that other NLUs haven't? Name a single faculty member of yours who is well-respected as a scholar in their chosen field. Infra, funding and government support you have had since over a decade now, much more than even NLS, NALSAR and NUJS have had. What have you done with all that? Nothing exceptional. So quit the posturing and focus on being better than your current self and not others.
How's this comment trollish? It asks questions and seeks facts in support of claims made. Mods have started forgetting their legal training to read properly it seems.
just a GNLU troll spreading propaganda, NLUJ is far superior to GNLU in all terms right from international law firm collaboration to moot court wins, As far as your ranking goes there exists no credible unbiased ranking framework upon which your claims are based. Rhodes scholarships are based on individual merit and not the fact that they've been to GNLU. As per your professors, they are comparatively poorer in all senses to the NLUJ profs.
Stop trying to ruin the girl's life for the sake of a dick-measuring contest with no credible information and imaginary claims. There are no law students who'd say GNLU is the fasting rising NLU because it isn't.
furthermore, please do apprise us of your "estimates" and the credibility of the same, because honestly, you are just a student and not an analyst to predict the growth of a certain NLU
also on another note, why don't you bring up the recent events at GNLU including multiple court orders, An HC suo moto recognition of SH at the college and all that happens there
let the kid make A CHOICE FREE FROM YOUR propaganda for god sake
I'm an RGNUL bud in my senior year with my friends in NLUO, I would like to give you my two cents on it, thank me later on this.
With 900 rank, if you don't get into GNLU, don't fret over it, go for NLUO as it has almost tier 1 placements, their infra has improved a lot, they have a decent VC and things are going way better their, don't pick RGNUL over it, though we have good infra, our teachers are good for NOTHING, placements are almost NIL or undesirable. We do have a very capable and competitive crowd here, but when it comes to the university its good for NOTHING.
Wish you loads of luck, tier 1 is not everything but you need to choose your tier 2 wisely.

GNLU has better Infrastructure and Campus than NLUJ
Gandhinagar is a better city than Jodhpur which is honestly a village area.
GNLU has better corp placements than NLUJ
We have more civil servants than NLUJ
More judges in the lower judiciary than NLUJ
More Rhodes scholars than NLUJ
