Jobs in banks aren’t really glamourised among the NLU crowd. But it seems a good option, at least from a middle class viewpoint. Stable job, decent working hours, employee benefits like soft loans, working for a “brand name” company people have heard of (unlike lala law firms) etc. Even club memberships once you reach a senior position.
A friend works in a PSU Bank. Comes back after 8 PM, gets paid about 50k in hand and options for promotion are limited after a point as you've to compete with people in general administration, who are in higher numbers for promotion. May work differently in a different PSU, with SBI being the best.
