I have a contact at DSK Legal but does it make sense in 3rd Year? And when should I apply if I want an internship in August/September

Yes a lot of my friends including me have gotten an internship there by just simply applying.

One of my friends interned there last year [through connections] and told me most of the interns were with references.

Need clarity on this question. Is it possible to get an internship at DSK Legal without any reference? The HR shoots back rejections faster than the speed of sound. Has anyone gotten an internship by simply applying to the firm/hr email?
