NLSIU has an unmatched brand value and, under Sudhir, is hiring top class alumni faculty. They’re unbeatable.

But look at the other NLUs. Good faculty exodus, bad faculty influx, terrible admin, outdated syllabus. In contrast, Ashoka and Jindal have much better faculty and infra, plus lots of opportunities to study abroad on exchange. Children of very influential people study here and are walking into good jobs because of their contacts, or going abroad for higher studies and settling there. Being products of elite schools, they posses communication skills and confidence that students from ordinary families (who dominate NLUs these days) do not have in the same measure. I don’t want to take names, but children of A-list Senior Advocates, partners, politicians, CEOs, IAS officers etc study at Jindal and Ashoka. They have an inherent advantage. Even if you look at many of the successful NLSIU alumni mentioned on LI, so many of them are children of influential people and would not have achieved the same success without their family backing.

So it does seem as if Ashoka and Jindal are overtaking most of the NLUs.
they just milk your money they don't care about you, how much were you paid to write this comment
yes and even if they don't they aren't milking 10-15 lakhs from you per annum.
with that amount of fees it would be a much more bigger problem than it is a feat if they did not overtake lower nlus.
Your comment is of no use to anyone who does not come from that privilege. Probably why you are of no use to Jindal/Ashoka apart from writing their praises on LI
Ashoka recently got a β‚Ή250 crore donation. It has done what none of the state NLUs can do, and yet our NLU fanboys and girls on this platform find excuses on why state NLUs cannot do that, and how Ashoka is leveraging its connections to get such donations. The fanboys and girls will just not accept that state NLUs are simply unable to do well and the NLUs' best days are behind them, their downslide has already begun.
What has it done with the donations that it had got earlier? Come up with any amazing scholarship? Any revolutionary pedagogy? Instituted scholarships so that the needy students can study there? In any case, why are we even comparing Ashoka with law universities?
So what you are saying is that what matters is not "what you know, but who you know".
1. The inherently better quality of faculty at both JGLS and NLSIU is a carefully nurtured myth, especially for JGLS where most of the faculty are freshers without any teaching experience or publication or research cred, only with a foreign LLM. In both of these places, the student numbers have increased so much that many students are deprived of the opportunity to study under the good faculty who are there.

2. Walking into career opportunities? The figures state otherwise. At JGLS, less than 10% students get placed, and the huge fee does not really justify the infra and other facilities. What you deliberately didn't mention is that the children of all the bigshots still sit for CLAT and AILET. When they can't crack either, that's when they go to JGLS. Hence there are similar students elsewhere including at the NLUs, just better in terms of quality.

3. Won't comment about Ashoka for the simple reason that only the ignorant try to compare law schools with non law schools.
Fair observation, but it's not like the children of the elite no longer make it to NLS. The son of the Chief Minister of Assam is currently at the Nagarbhavi Laa Coledge.
Jindal is the worst college ever I am telling this with my personal experience
NLUs/Stephen's/SRCC/IIMs/IITs are not "good" because they have exceptional faculty, infrastructure, or resources. It's only because they take in filtered students who are likely to do well even without the university. That's precisely how selectivity helps them retain their brand value. Network is all that matters in this case. Mr. Shamnad Basheer too had discussed this aspect in one of his lectures on YouTube.
You NLU kids are in denial and can’t handle the truth…. It’s obvious that students from privileged families and top schools will have an advantage over others. All your NLU heroes are from such backgrounds.
As a jgls student, I disagree. Jindal's absolute placements barely match the top 5-7 NLUs except miracle 2023 batch where CAM hired 44. And these are ABSOLUTE numbers and our batch sizes are 6-7x or even more of NLUs so imagine the percentage of placements, even if half batch doesnt want a job, the ratio is still 10% or less than that placed in jobs that pay 15+
Not everyone has bags of money to throw away at a degree as unyielding and unemployable as BA.LLB.
