It is confirmed that the whole of the Core Committee of Students Activities Committee of GNLU has resigned from their posts. From what is heard, their decision steps for the inability of the administration to support them in ensuring smooth organisation of Pentagram fest. However, the view of the Administration has been tightened after the HC case and increased scrutiny of the Government. The misuse of funds by the SAC Students was rampant and with no checks in place. A perusal of the accounts would show high mismanagement on part of the administration while disbursing inflated and bogus bills and receipts submitted by the SAC committee.

It is no secret that most of their Core Committee members did not attend classes, a fact that anybody in GNLU can confirm. It is heard that there was complaint from a sitting Supreme Court justice specifically on this issue that led to tightened norms for attendance, leading to backlogs for most SAC Core members.

Now it is unclear whether Pentagram will take place or not, and it is unlikely that a solution will be found by the Administration to host Pentagram.

This remains a unique case of the whole core committee resigning in the history of GNLU. The pressure from the admin could be attributed to multiple reasons, including rising discontent among faculty for SAC floating basic attendance and other rules, cases of misappropriation of funds and ragging by SAC core members and not to forget serious allegations of ragging and supply of intoxicants by the SAC Convenor himself.

It is expected that the Admin takes a strict stand without causing jeopardy to the student community as a whole. Only time will tell...

Good riddance, the SAC had become a massive joke. At this point people were only joining it to skip lectures and source contraband. The SAC couldn't organise a tea party if they tried, they were never going to be able to pull of the Pentagram of yesteryears anyway. Blaming the Admin is good and fine except for the simple fact that Admin has always turned a blind eye to SAC's rampant misbehaviour and it's now biting them in the ass.

OP should not discuss internal matters of the university like this. Also, the comment is not true and based on exaggeration and half-truths. The truth is that the SAC has been outstanding in its performance and tried its utmost to work responsible and for the betterment of the students and university as a whole. I admit that not everything is perfect but there were many factors beyond our control.

I am sorry to say this, but I feel that OP is disgruntled and is using LI to air personal grudges. I am also sorry to say that there is an element of politics in this.

I can confirm to the fact that admin got to know about the huge number of financial irregularities and complaints against SAC. The VC didn't want to outrightly make the disciplinary committee sit on them since it would cause them to lose their degrees. He instead made them resign in the best interests of all. Some faculty members (people can guess) didn't see this to be correct and are deciding to speak with higher authorities.

Crazy to say stuff like this while being on the outside and not actually dealing with the admin who plans on cancelling events on the day. Even after having multiple successful events last sem saying they couldn't arrange a "tea party". Yeah sure maybe thats why people literally were breaking doors to attend an event.

Just to put it on record and anybody in GNLU can confirm this- SAC Convenor himself was involved in massive misappropriation of funds almost every single day, supplying ban substances and contrabands in the hostels, giving positions to ppl "allegedly" on the basis of some favours etc etc. so what has happened is not cmplt surprising.

It seems the whole SAC core is trying to be away from the campus or suck up to the admin. They are trying to talk to the VC but nothing's working out. It was important that this step was taken. Now every committee will be kept in check. I ain't paying fees from my parents hardwork for some good for nothing people to be enjoying their Goa vacation or enjoy contrabands sorry. I am willing to go to any extent and even raise my voice if there are people who believe the same as I do

Not you expecting applause for missing law of evidence classes to organise valentine's day. Do you also provide a helping hand or do the students have to bring their own?
