Why do so many people cry over franchise T20 cricket (IPL, Big Bash, Aus T20 leagues, etc) eventually taking priority over national cricket? Other than "nationalism" I do not find any other reason. Most of us lawyers do not have time to watch an entire test match, or even a one day International. Besides, national team pays peanuts in comparison to what top leagues pay. This is why more and more cricketers are prioritizing leagues, yes they are looking out for better monetary prospectives and I see absolutely nothing wrong with it because heck, we all want better pay.

BCCI is so insecure about players abandoning national matches that they have a blanket ban policy on non-retired Indians partaking in foreign franchises. Similarly, Afghanistan Cricket Board took action against players who opted for IPL and league cricket. If it wasn't for these authoritarian rules and regulations set up by these corrupt cricket bodies, national cricket, test cricket in particular, would have been mostly dead a long time ago.

Personally, I care more about my IPL team winning than whoever wins the world cup. I know many more at my Mumbai-based T1 firm who think alike. How widespread is this phenomenon? I suspect many are scared to admit because of potential backlash by nationalists.
