Have seen many of my batchmates land internships basis a cold email. Are these considered "contact internships" for the purpose of assessment of an intern? Especially in the case of AZB, CAM and SAM.

Have there not been cases where contact interns were given a call-back at Trilegal? I definitely remember hearing that they provide stipend to contact interns who are called back.
