The day is not far away when state NLUs will be asked by the respective state governments to teach the local language initially as a subject, and then as the medium of instruction. Once CLAT becomes multi-lingual from 2025 onwards, there is no stopping.
Those who have got problems with Kannada signboard find Hindi boards, plaques etc in all public places quite normal. That's the attitude that has triggered such problems. Either have one official language for everything that's not the mother tongue of any part of the population so that nobody gets any undue advantage, like English. Or else have regional languages for every region together with English. Nobody outside the Hindi speaking states should have to converse/communicate in Hindi.

As for the caste census, it's happening in the states because the central government has refused to conduct census in the decade that it has been in power for. Every day there are still hundreds of instances of caste based atrocities in all parts of the country, so it's not as if caste issues have become irrelevant.
Who told you about your first sentence? Did you carry out a census all by yourself without letting the government know?
Various data points it out and even various dalit scholar says too. Thats why we must collect even caste wise atrocities perpetrators data collection. Almost 85 percent are done by OBC. Middle caste always deny their culpability afterall who likes to take accountability.
The downfall of state NLUs is guaranteed. You can bet on the state governments to worsen this toxic mess and hasten this process.
We support and encourage regional languages.

It destroys elitist culture in the profession.
With the Central government's push towards Hindi it was inevitable anyways.

They keep insisting on curriculum in Hindi even for courses like engineering and Mbbs.

When people feel their language and culture is being threatened, they tend to overcompensate.

Cure the problem not the symptom.
Towards a divided nation. Thanks in part to the existing institution.
Absolutely. Regionalism and casteism is the enemy of merit, progress and national unity. It’s disgusting that the so-called left is weaponising this in their desperation to overthrow Modi.

Coming to NLUs, it’s important for all NLU student bodies and alumni to unite and challenge domicile reservation in the SC.
Centralism equating with Hindi-Hindu-Hindustan is not something to aspire for either.
Though it is not something new, the Hindi push by present government has just aggravated it. Earlier they didn't use to vandalise shops and establishments, but now to protect their culture and language, the indigenous people see threat in every foreign element that they around them.

The present Modi government is adding fuel to this by unnecessarily imposing Hindi, see those 3 criminal bills, the names are in Hindi even though the whole bill is in English. This unnecessary imposition of a language is the root problem.

The only solution to this is following a two language model in states and one language in Centre, with English being the mandatory language across the country.
This country is regressing with myopic considerations such as language/regional, caste (yes, that also includes giving reservations to castes that are not underprivileged but numerically/politically significant; Dr. Ambedkar didn't include them for a reason)
That's for Political reservation I.e., seats in assembly and parliament.

Are you really a lawyer/ law student?
Student of WhatsApp university. Only repeats what he has read on forwards.
Absolutely. Most talk of autonomy (including linguistic autonomy) when it comes to center-state relationships, but forget the fact that the same mindset can exist within the states themselves. E.g. Marathwada region in Maharashtra, North Karnataka, Bodo region in Assam, or Hill region in WB. They too can use the same argument and start divisive actions. After all, there is no end to divisiveness.
There won't be any need for that if the concerned government remembers that they represent those regions too and hence involve them in decision making and development.
This is easier said than done. One of the reasons why AP got split into two states. Some communities felt neglected and aggrieved.
Then let the state be divided. We are still part of the same country. People have the right of self-determination without compromising national security.
Why have states at all? Funding is with the center, while the delivery of services and schemes is with district administrations. There is no need for states in the middle - state administrations are a nuisance adding no value anyway.
Because the central government has its own agenda that will never cover the interests of all the regions.
They already do when they die as victims to the hundreds of atrocities by UC every day.
Plus i have no ill will towards SC/ST, they deserve everything in world but its all landlord tribes nonsense that i am against.
I am very good and thriving professionally and personally but thanks
Don’t think CLAT is going to become multilingual from 2025 lol where did you get this info
β€œ The NTA has also stated that it is willing to conduct CLAT in regional languages as early as 2024. However, the final decision will rest with the Consortium…”

It’s not gonna happen lol and for good reason.

It opens up a huge can of worms where if you conduct it in a certain few regional languages, people will demand for it to be conducted in ten other languages and say they are at a disadvantage.
The debate here is not about who conducts the exam, but about it being in other languages as well. The decision is NOT with the consortium. Now it is with the consortium to give a reason as to why the exam CANNOT be conducted in other regional languages in addition to English. This year (i.e. CLAT 2024) the timing was tight hence the consortium got away, but from next year onwards, there are no such excuses. The consortium will have to conduct the exam in multiple languages, because if it does not do so then it will be taken away from the consortium and assigned to NTA.
Then the consortium will just break apart and the NLUs will revert to conducting their own entrance just like NLUD does. The central government has got no power over the individual NLUs because they are not nationalised.
This is a possibility. Besides NLUD, NLU Meghalaya and UPNLU Prayagraj are also not part of the consortium.
What is the likelihood that the consortium (headquartered in Bangalore) will agree to conduct CLAT in Hindi, especially in light of the language issues currently going on in Karnataka?
The centre pushed Hindi supremacy way too far, people were bound to retaliate
