I recently completed my 1st semester at a mid-tier NLU and we got our results a few days back. My overall CGPA was 3.5 which is very low for a first-year student. I could not score well in my Mid-semesters and had to pull it off in my finals. Even though I scored well in my Finals my cumulative grade is still below average and my batch rank is low. Is there any way to increase it in my Second Sem or will my rank remain stagnant?

First sem ranks are rarely ever reflected in the final sem ranks (of course barring few exceptions). The batch ranks will keep shuffling for everyone. My first sem rank in a tier-1 NLU was ~35 with a GPA of 6 point something out of 10. I graduated with an ~8/10 CGPA and a top 5 rank. You'll be fine. Attend classes, focus on learning (i know we've crap faculties but try), and take exams slightly more seriously if you are really concerned about your GPA/ranks for whatever reason (scholarships, jobs, medals, etc.).
