For all the juvenile toxic rhetoric we see on this platform about state NLUs (more so about the so-called Tier 1), there is not a single state NLU that comes even close. And I am not even comparing with the likes of IISc and IIT-B. As a private university, Ashoka is outperforming all state NLUs. Sorry state of affairs - all this hype about the Rhodes scholarship, international moots, CAM, SAM, AZB, Trilegal, etc. is zilch.

NLU grads expose their parochial mindset by making comparisons here and there. You might say that Ashoka is above NLUs. But the depravity has started with this very thread when you got into this little skirmish of comparing Ashoka with others. So yeah, Ashoka is as shitty as NLUs.

Bro, don't confuse raising revenues with superior academic performance. Jindal got over 1,000 crores from the Jindal family in the past few years and another 900 crores by selling property rights to hostel buildings and facilities to a Goldman Sachs entity. Yet, Jindal is widely acknowledged to rank 8th in the country in terms of student placements and no higher (after NLSIU, NALSAR, NLUD, NUJS, GNLU, NLUJ and NLIU).

Jindal is certainly ahead of NLIU Bhopal, NLU Jodhpur & GNLU Gandhinagar in all matters including faculty, infra, facilities, international education, internships, etc.

However, NLS, Nalsar, NUJS & NLU Delhi remain top 4 mainly because of exceptional student quality and campus placements. What do you say?

Are you Moses or something? Keh doge toh hum sab messiah bol ke maan lenge? Ashoka is the only university in the country which hires people with foreign postdocs from top institutions, not even foreign PhDs. Not like Jindal who hires LL.M. graduates with no experience. If you see the faculty recruitment notifications and the profile of faculties, you will know. NLUs do not even come close by ten thousand miles.

Ashoka and Jindal have been set up by the wealthiest people in the country and are attended by children of the wealthiest people in the country. So they'll obviously attract funding. Also, Ashoka and Jindal are just 2 private universities and are exceptions. The bulk of private universities are like Amity, Sharda, Galgotia, Lovely Professional etc. These places are not at all prestigious and are poorly regarded. They have been set up by barely literate, nouveau riche businessmen who lack the standing of the Jindal and Ashoka founders. Such colleges also do not have faculty with good qualifications or tie-ups with top universities abroad. They work as degree mills for students from tier 2/tier 3 cities who lack grades but have money.

So it's very unfair to cherry-pick Jindal and Ashoka and say that they are better than NLUs. Why don't you compare Amity with NLSIU, Sharda with NLUD, Galgotia with NALSAR etc?

It's way more difficult to get into a top 3 NLU versus getting into Ashoka. Hell, take away the NRI quota and getting into places like NLUJ, GNLU, NUJS and NLIU is also way more difficult than getting into Ashoka. Government universities will always be more prestigious than private ones.

Yeah, I agree. The best thing about state NLUs is that they are perfectly capable and willing to pull each other down. They don't need any external party/entity to pull them down. They'd do it themselves and continue to remain mediocre. Just like crabs. Such sit back and watch the fun.
