What the guy said is that elections in India are all about money and funding. He said issues like caste, corruption, religion etc don’t matter as much as the media would like us to believe. Maybe a handful of MPs will be elected solely on the basis of Hindu or Muslim or caste identity, but overwhelmingly the MP with the most funds is the one who will win a seat. Now, the source of funds is the party. The guy said all the top businessmen in India and his clients are pouring money into the BJP, including traditional pro-Congress business houses. As a result, the Congress and INDIA alliance parties are mostly relying on small-time businessmen, like the liquor dealer recently caught with 400 crore. Even here, the guy said that 400 crore is apparently peanuts for election funding. Meanwhile, certain regional parties like the TMC or RJD or JMM rely a lot on organised crime for their funds, like the coal mafia, sand mafia, bootlegging mafia etc. But the BJP’s funds are still much larger. The guy said that the markets have already factored in Modi’s win, so the Sensex won’t rise all that much in June as the win won’t be a surprise.
Just sharing what I heard. I’m just a small ant in front of such big lawyers. Maybe he is wrong and is overestimating the importance of money. Maybe election experts who come on TV and discuss caste calculations are the ones who are right. Maybe Congress will win after all. 🤷♂️
