I am from Kolkata. I want good placements and a decent ROI. Where should I go. I have clat the first time and got a rank within 800 but will opt for NRI-S seats in any of these colleges. Tell me.
NLU-J. The fee is reasonably low compared to other NLUs offering these seats. They can upgrade your seat from NRI-S to Gen too, if you have made the cut (just confirm this tho, as the rules may have changed)
You can try for NLIU too if you want to access a strong student body. The placements are still strong.
Try for the NLU-D OCI category seats (if any first degree kin of yours is a certified OCI).
NRI is already being carried on. Students have already received the NRI-S tag on their applications as well. Check out the official pdf by the mod too. Itβs done and dusted. NLU-J will be officially accepting applications very soon. It will again beat Nujs and NLIU on quality intake.
One wonders why every thread involving CLAT seats and counselling has an invariable plug-in about NLUD. If they wish to be part of the discussion, then they should join CLAT. Otherwise, wait till the AILET counselling begins.
I actually agree with you, but no one from NLUD brought it into this discussion. The Mod did. In any case, we could care less about your CLAT counselling or discussions thereof.
Never said an NLUD student had brought it up in this thread. They do in plenty of others do, could never understand why. They are in a fine institution and don't really need any external validation to excel in their lives.
SBI lists NLSIU, NALSAR and NUJS as priority institutions for student loans for ages now. Good to know that other NLUs are being added to the list too.
Nujs is not a priority institution under the scholar list anymore. At least for SBI, I recently went there. Who is feeding you such fake info? Also it doesnβt matter whether a candidate is NRI-S/Gen, he can avail the scholar loans provided he is eligible.
As a student of NUJS who had taken admission in the undergrad programme in 2023, I can vouch for the fact that SBI still lists it thus. I have availed of the loan myself. It seems that whichever branch you had visited did not have complete info about this. However, since you don't seem to be a student of NUJS, no harm done.
As far as placements are concerned, NLIU has had great Tier 1 law firm placements (both day zero + PPO) consistently. It would also be easier for you to upgrade to Gen category seat at NLIU given that it has lower cutoff than NLUJ. Further NLIU since last year has introduced 60 seats for BscLLB in addition 120 BALLB seats.
If you are looking from a vac scheme perspective, then NLUJ has a pretty strong streak, would be the highest possible ROI. I'm unsure if foreign firms usually take in students from NLIU

Try for the NLU-D OCI category seats (if any first degree kin of yours is a certified OCI).
Good luck
Also GNLU has the best student body
As a student myself I would argue that NLUJ even feels that it has a much tighter knit community.
