Buddy, an LLM degree is largely worthless from any Indian NLU. Don’t act as if going to NALSAR would’ve set you up for life. Unless the academic rigour there is even worse. And you’re just a student, stop parading as if you can design a better syllabus and pass judgments on the quality of academic rigour. The reason you’re frustrated is because you wanted to clear judiciary but thought you could earn an easy LLM degree. Obviously, nothing at NLUD comes easy. You want to do judiciary, then don’t join for LLM. Or go to some shit place with zero attendance requirements. Don’t pathetically make this some NLUD problem. Even NLS LLM these days doesn’t allow students any free time.

Since you aren't either an LLM student at NLUD, nor do you represent faculty or admin from there, you have got zero locus to comment on the viability or rigour of the course. Judging from the language used by you NLUD trolls, you seem to be lacking in both education as well proper upbringing.

You're too entitled if you think they should have just handed you the masters without any evaluation. This is not only for nlud but anything. Don't take too much on your plate and then blame everyone else except self.

I can fully concede or understand that the LLM programme might not be that good, but honestly, the reasoning you provide is funny, to say the least. The programme is trash because you had to study and attend classes and hence could not focus on judiciary prep. What metric are we judging an LLM on?

Why is this thread marked trollish, whatever the author has said is true only. I got a rank in the 30s this time in AILET PG but inspite of that will not join the Institute. A lot of ppl in the Top-50 either won't be paying the counselling fees for PG. What is so trollish about it?

The person just said that he/she is frustrated on his/her decision to go for NLU D masters and not getting time for judiciary preparation. Whether NLUD is good for Masters or not should ideally be the moot question. Instead the person is venting out anger that the University made him/her do things which did not help in judiciary preparation and distracted his/her attention.

Kisi bhi University ki LLM is not a honeymoon or vacation period. Already we have a lot of shitty colleges/universities distributing degrees to people without any attendance or dissertation requirements. It's because of such people that serious LLM candidates are looked down in India. I don't know what the person will do if he/she becomes a judge.

OP did not vent. He clearly mentioned his reasons, which will also be applicable for a large number of PG aspirants who will have similar motivation, whether you like it or not. The Mods these days cannot bear anything bad to be said about certain people/institutions, otherwise this is much better than the inane X NLU is the best for no reason other than because I say so comments that LI is full of.

Yes, many PG aspirants might be motivated to do their judiciary preparations alongside LLM course. But you can't expect a University, that too of NLUD stature, to cater a course as per whims of a candidate which would take out the significance of the degree itself. First you want a big University name to be associated with you, and when the University lives up to the academic rigour, you blame the University for not allowing time to do other things. Grow up.

This is the pathetic situation of majority of imbeciles running around studying law. Don't know what to do, just follow the trend blindly and hope you'll get in somewhere.

First things first, have told this to every person a 101 times, an LL.M. is only an academic degree, it's for a career in ACADEMIA OR RESEARCH. Your LL.B degree is more than enough for litigation, judiciary and law firms. Stop wasting time pursuing a career you won't enter.

Second, an LL.M is already fast paced since it's a 2 year course cramped into one year and moreover the M.Phil is also no more available. Therefore if you're doing an LLM from a good institute it will take up your time. NLUD, NALSAR, NLS etc every one of those institutions will definitely not give you any time for any other activities. It's not the institution but the fact that a 2 year course is being taught like a one year crash course, especially in Research methodology type subjects.

Thirdly, if you were/are really interested in judiciary, you'd be better off joining litigation than going for an LLM or PhD. Many states have already started asking for mandatory court practice and vakalatnamas as minimum qualification to appear in the exam. Moreover, the practical knowledge & experience you will gain in one year will outweigh and surpass another extra year of theoretical studies.

Fourth, stop following the trend and think for a moment. What is it you wish to pursue. Where do you see you self in the next decade, then move forward. Have a detailed approach than a wide scattered "Jo mila wo chalega" approach.

Law firms - start practicing in firms..T1 nahi milta, T2 start, T2 nahi milta toh T3.. T3 bhi nahi milta toh LPO. But atleast start somewhere.

Litigation - start internships, build contacts, immediately enroll, clear AIBE, get licence and start practicing in courts.

Judiciary - take coaching, give as many exams as you can; if not than start practicing courts.

Academia/Research - LL.M., NET, PhD and start publishing in journals.

UPSC - start coaching or prepare with or without a job.

Keep it simple and straightforward. Stop giving each and every exam just cause the crowd is . Know what you want and pursue it accordingly.
