What should I choose between DU 5 Year Law vs NUALS? The criteria being placements and the overall development as a law student. Plus, I am from delhi.

Will delhi actually play a role and is it that worth it to shift at this point of time as first semester is already over and my internship is going to start soon.

It depends on your aim. If it's litigation, judiciary or UPSC. DU all the way. If you have classes in the morning, you can intern in the evening and vive versa. Lot of flexibility in working in courts. Plus imagine 5 years of experience in DC, HC and even SC. Moreover if you're aiming for judiciary or UPSC you can join a coaching. The time spent on classes is not more than 3-4 hours. Plus majority of students always study at the end of the semester, right before exams.

NLUs are good for a corporate career. However NUALS is not an NLS, NALSAR or NUJS. There will be no guarantee of a absolute PPO or placement. Sure the tag will help, but it's going to be all your hardworking and networking more than the universities brand name. If it would have been the top 5-6 NLUs I would have told you to reconsider. But it's NUALS. Unless you want to experience college/hostel life outside Delhi.

I would still give the edge to DU. Especially since you're from Delhi, the hostel and accompanying expenses will not be a burden, due to non existent.

If your criteria are placements and overall development as a law student, then NUALS is the logically better option. You would also be able to rub shoulders with students from several different states and grow as a person in NUALS. Don't just opt for Delhi since you're from Delhi. Try to experience something outside your hometown for five years. It will be worth it in the long run. Kochi is a wonderful city to live in.

Also, NUALS has some really good law faculty and a solid Alumni Base. Given that it is a younger NLU, with the oldest Alumni only reaching their late 30s now, NUALS Alumni have done really well for themselves given the comparatively fewer resources they had. Also as the batch strength is smaller, the Alumni Network is very well-connected and active.

If you have financial burdens, then choose DU. NLUs are too expensive and you can generally only recoup the fees you spent in NLUs fast if you join law firms/in-house corporate sector.

There are several Alumni from NUALS in Delhi doing well in the Delhi HC and Supreme Court as Advocates on Record too if you are looking for litigation.

Some of the best and smartest people I've met are from NUALS, and they challenged each other to perform better.

I'm not saying that DU does not have these features in some way or the other, but NUALS offers much more than just an NLU Tag.
