Most of our students don't apply for it. Moreover, given all the shameless alum lobbying that goes on behind these things, it is no wonder that younger universities would be at a disadvantage. The playing field is not level at all.
This is the first time and the first year that NLUD has been part of this scholarship. Previously, our refusal to join CLAT pre-empted our students from even applying. There will be more of these scholars in the future. It looks as if all the “tier-1” NLUs are now part of this, except NLIU.
All hatred and jokes aside, it’s good to see a non-clat (Ailet ofc is a brand) univeristy breaking it into the ABS hierarchy. NLUD ABS scholars are unheard of. And the first time this Uni applied, it successfully got one. NLUD is going places only if it stops the unnecessary drama of **** measuring contest in LI.
I am not from NLUD, but it makes me happy when any NLU other than NLSIU achieves success. For too long, NLSIU has benefited from a monopoly and formed a cabal. Disgustingly, they argued before the Karnataka High Court, via an alum who is ASG, that only NLSIU is a national law university and other law universities are state universities, because the CJI is Chancellor of NLSIU. The Karnataka High court got fooled and accepted the argument, without considering that the CJI is also Chancellor of GNLU and NUJS, or that NLUD also has a strong national character. For this reason, we should cheer other NLUs.
Bruh what are you saying. Check (someone posted the website link) the number of shortlisted candidates and the ultimate selected outcome. 5 out of 7 cracked the code. The best nlu for a reason.
