Telangana - Revanth Reddy
MP - Mohan Yadav
CG: Vinod Sai
Rajasthan: Bhajan Lal Sharma
All greenhorns and no known connections with any NLU. Doubt if it will help the NLUs.
If you're reading, everyone knows โฎโฎโฎ
NOTE: AAP is a national party, not a regional part, hence NLUDโs success is intact. Similarly, CPIM is a national party, hence NUJS did well initially.
Raj = Scindia or RS Rathore = Possible boost for NLUJ
CG = Baghel = status quo for HNLU
Tel = Cong = Boost for NALSAR
Best Placements - NUJS
Best Litigation/UPSC/Judiciary scene - NLUD
Best Campus - NALSAR
NLS/NALSAR/NUJS were, are and always be invincible. Even NLIU and NLUJ are better options than NLUD currently. In terms of placements, all 5 of them definitely beat NLUD single-handedly. And now we have got other reasons to not place NLUD above these five.
Delhi was already not a safe city. Parents also now do not prefer sending their kids in a gas chamber. NLUD can only be a place for rich kids of Delhi and neighbouring areas who are oblivious to suffering of large population of the northern belt.
NALSAR's concerns:
a) Infra and funding still superior to most NLUs, but some of the infra is now ageing and more funds are needed to improve hostels and other facilities. Also need for better faculty, especially NLU alumni.
b) An 80% Telangana quota in NALSAR was mooted by the Congress during the previous election. KCR has not implemented any such policy, but as 2024 approaches could that be implemented for votes? Or is NALSAR just too prestigious and famous to be fiddled around with?
Madhya Pradesh (NLIU): Tight fight between BJP and Congress. Whoever wins, there could be a new CM (Kamal Nath for Congress, Scindia for BJP).
a) NLIU has traditionally been apolitical, but a major campus fight erupted last month, during a pro-BJP seminar allegedly involving hate propaganda. Will the return of a BJP government mean more of this? Conversely, will a Congress government put a stop to it?
b) The decline of NLIU in recent years has ben quite sad. Fall in NIRF rankings, fall in prestige and CLAT preference etc. DNLU Jabalpur is also eating away funds that could have gone to NLIU. Will a new government give more funding?
c) Weak faculty, falling infra.
Rajasthan (NLUJ): History of rotating governments and infighting in Congress may give BJP the edge.
NLUJ's concerns:
a) More funding and better faculty needed.
b) Return of BJP may mean culture wars like NLIU
Chhattisgarh (HNLU): Congress strong favourite to return.
a) Current government has done much for HNLU. More funding needed.
